Project 2025 contains more than 900 pages of detailed plans for unprecedented levels of deportation, nationwide abortion bans, and major setbacks for public health.

He would install Trump loyalists throughout the government.

As detailed in Project 2025, Trump plans to fire tens of thousands of government officials and replace them with his own loyalists so he can do whatever he wants and not be stopped.

If Donald Trump wins in November, he’d completely reshape every level of government to expand his power without any boundaries or accountability. 

SCOTUS gave him total immunity. 

To make it worse, Trump has been given immunity by the Supreme Court, which would give him unchecked power to do what he wants without consequences. 

And he’s already made it clear that he’s ready to take full advantage of it by seeking revenge against his enemies – his political opponents, the media, and “leftists.” 

He plans to use the government for his own revenge. 

“I think the bigger problem is the enemy from within … We have some very bad people. We have some sick people, radical-left lunatics … It should be very easily handled by, if necessary, by the National Guard, or if really necessary, by the military, because they can’t let that happen.”

He would pardon himself and his collaborators.

If Donald Trump returns to the White House, it’s highly likely that he’d direct federal agencies to dismiss the federal criminal cases against him and his cronies.

He also vowed to pardon the violent rioters who stormed the Capitol on January 6. 

“Understand what it would mean if Donald Trump were back in the White House with no guardrails, because certainly we know now the court won’t stop him. It’s up to the American people to stop him.”

In the United States, no one is above the law. The testimony that former FBI Director James Comey is expected to deliver today makes clear that Congress must begin impeachment proceedings immediately.

MoveOn does not make this call lightly.

We have opposed Donald Trump’s bigoted, dangerous, and reckless actions and policies at every turn, helping to mobilize a powerful Resistance movement that is engaging millions of Americans in political activism, many for the first time in their lives. But today’s testimony puts us in fundamentally new territory. This is no longer about our opposition to Trump’s policies and rhetoric.

Donald Trump, and those around him, have sought to undermine our democracy and the rule of the law like no administration in our history. It is now clear that Trump’s effort to use the powers of the presidency to interfere with an ongoing investigation of whether, how, and why a foreign power tried unlawfully to undermine our electoral process is exactly the kind of fundamental abuse of power that the founders believed is an impeachable offense—a ‘High Crime or Misdemeanor’ under our Constitution.

Eighteen years ago, MoveOn was founded around a call for Congress to avoid  impeachment proceedings: censure then-President Bill Clinton, and ‘move on to the business of the country.’

Today, we are in a very different moment.

“We can not ‘move on’ from this. We will not treat this as normal. And politicians in Washington must not continue to conduct business as usual. Everyone in Congress must look in the mirror and decide how they will fulfill their oath to defend our Constitution—and which side of history they want to be on.

Press Conference Calls on Members of Congress to Sign Discharge Petition to Create Independent Commission to Investigate Trump

Reps Nadler, Doggett, Deutch, Eshoo and Sarbanes Join Members of Common Cause, CREDO, MoveOn, Public Citizen, and More in Push for Independent Commission Investigation of Trump Campaign’s Ties to Russia

Washington, DC — On Wednesday, June 7th, members of 19 national organizations will rally on Capitol Hill to deliver the signatures of more than 4 million people to members of Congress urging a full investigation into the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia.  

The press conference and petition delivery, which will take place at the western section of Area 10 (the lawn in front of East Capitol steps on the House Side) calls specifically on members of Congress to support a discharge petition, introduced by Rep. Eric Swalwell and Rep. Elijah Cummings, dedicated to  creating an independent commission to investigate the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia.  Rep. Lloyd Doggett (TX-35), Rep. John Sarbanes (MD-03), Rep. Jerry Nadler (NY-10), Rep. Ted Deutch (FL-22) and Rep. Anna Eshoo (CA-18) will be in attendance at the press conference.

The press conference and petition delivery comes on the heels of the March for Truth held June 3rd which called for a full investigation into the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia and in anticipation of former FBI director James Comey’s testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Thursday, June 8th.

WASHINGTON, DC — MoveOn Civic Action’s Executive Director, Anna Galland, called today on Democrats in Congress to reject the $1.1 trillion federal spending bill proposed yesterday, stating:

“This spending bill has been corrupted by Wall Street banks that are actively working to undermine rules that currently prevent them from wrecking the economy with speculative derivatives trades. Citigroup lobbyists reportedly wrote the part of the bill that would gut these important protections — which were put in place after the 2008 financial crisis. The legislation raises the risk of more taxpayer-funded bailouts for the big banks. It is unacceptable in its current form and must be defeated.

Americans saw what happens when financial institutions, deemed too-big-to-fail, gamble with funds backed by the government. Our families still carry the residual burden of taxpayer-funded bank bailouts.

Wall Street gave $25 million to Congress during the midterm elections. This bill proves that was money well spent. But Congress doesn’t answer to big banks like Citigroup, JP Morgan, and Bank of America. Congress answers to us, the American people. And it must deliver a clean spending bill without further delay.”

When the Koch brothers-backed group Americans for Prosperity mailed false voter registration information to hundreds of thousands of North Carolinians, MoveOn members fought back, chipping in to correct the misinformation by running ads and contacting voters.

This full-page ad correcting the misinformation will run this Sunday in North Carolina’s four largest newspapers. The newspaper ads feature Riziki Omonde, a 20-year-old college student at Appalachian State University, who has advocated to protect voting rights for students.

The Supreme Court’s decision in McCutcheon v. FEC has seriously threatened our democracy by allowing ultra-rich individuals like Shaun McCutcheon and the Koch brothers to effectively buy as many members of Congress as their bank accounts allow.

The Roberts Court has weakened America’s democracy and contributed to a system of legalized bribery by allowing big money to swamp the voices of regular Americans and dramatically alter the outcome of elections.

MoveOn members are committed to reclaiming our democracy by working to overturn this decision and Citizens United and by advocating for comprehensive campaign finance reform.

S. 1975, a new election modernization bill in Massachusetts, would allow early voting, online voter registration, and preregistration, as well as other updates to make voting more fair. These reforms are vital for making elections accessible to as many Bay Staters as possible. That’s why Sara Brady of the organization MassVOTE started several MoveOn Petitions to the legislature, encouraging them to pass the bill. Thousands of MoveOn members signed the petitions—and on the day of the vote, members also generated a ton of phone calls to their senators, asking them each to support the bill. On Thursday, the bill passed the Massachusetts Senate with a vote of 37-1.

This bill is only the beginning. Last year, the Supreme Court gutted the landmark Voting Rights Act of 1965. Since then, Republicans across the country have raced to implement new restrictive laws that would do exactly what the Voting Rights Act was meant to protect against. But MoveOn members are fighting back on the national, state, and local level.

Since President Obama was elected, Republican senators have been using the filibuster to block critical executive branch and judicial nominations. MoveOn members and progressive champs in the Senate, like Sen. Jeff Merkley of Oregon, have been working tirelessly to pass meaningful filibuster reform and fix the dysfunction in Washington. Sen. Merkley started a MoveOn Petition telling the Senate to pass real filibuster reform, which gathered more than 25,000 signatures. MoveOn members like Ned Jeter, James Hammond, Beth Allen of Fix the Senate Now, Cynthia Liu along with the Working Families Party, and Chris Bowers of Daily Kos all started MoveOn Petitions calling on the Senate to reform filibuster rules and make Washington work better for all Americans.

Thanks to the millions of Americans who demanded reform, the Senate voted on November 21 to end the practice of filibustering on presidential nominations to the executive branch and to the courts (except the Supreme Court). This vote was a huge step forward in making the Senate work for ordinary Americans again.

This year, the Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act and dozens of U.S. states got busy introducing restrictive voting bills that would prevent poor, minority, and elderly voters from making it to the polls. Meanwhile, some Massachusetts legislators were working to pass an election modernization bill that would allow online voter registration and early voting. That’s why Sara Brady of the organization MassVOTE started several MoveOn Petitions asking members of the Massachusetts General Court to stand up for the state’s voters and pass the bill. On November 20, after thousands of people signed the petitions and joined MassVOTE’s campaign, the Massachusetts House passed the bill onto the Senate, marking an important first step in election reform for the state.
