How abot Baldacci?nHe got less votes than LePage.nAcording to your logic Baldacci should not have been the Governor of Maine either. nnHere are the facts:nBaldacci won in 2006 by 38.11% of the votes with 209,297 votesnLePage won in 2010 by 38.33% of the vote with 216,761 votesnYou probably are not aware that democrats in Maine lost both Houses, too.nnYou conveniently skipped these facts (I am assuming you knew that much)!!!n

Can you though account for the 62% that did not vote for your previous Governor? Do your homework so your own logic does not kill your own argument.

You forget that Baldacci in 2006 was elected with less votes than LePage. Was baldacci a moron, too? nAccording to your logic, Yes.

Your absolutely right, We need campaign finance reform, and we need it yesterday! If we want to even give our government a prayer at being effective we’ve got to start at the beginning of the process. nnDeath of Publicly funded campaigns.nnIn 2008 President Obama raised half a billion dollars from private corporations. John McCain opted for the bipartisan, voter funded 84 million. nnAccepting the public funds and running a publicly funded campaign has become a losers campaign, because as Obama demonstrated it has become possible to raise astronomically greater amounts of funds privately. nnThe Principle of it all.nnThough I identify with a side I’m not taking it here. I’m challenging the entire system. In 2008 the two major candidates spent a combined 633 million dollars on Media coverage. A reported 539 million was spend on “administrative” duties. A total of 587 million was additionally spent on campaign expenses, contributions, fundraisers, and other. (source, Center for Responsive Politics). nnI would only describe myself as a moderately fiscally conscious American, but these figures are disgusting and frightening. It should not take these gross amounts of dollars to explain points of views to voting Americans.nnOnly the extremely wealthy can even afford to think about running. nnThis flawed system shoos away the most qualified candidates.nnWhy are bipartisan mediated debates, reasonable caps on finance spending (Maybe start with a suggestion of keeping millions of dollars to 8 digits…), and a crackdown on dirty/smear campaigns so hard to concieve?nnREFORM IN ’12!nn

Bought votes, rigged polls, out-of-control lobbyists virtually set and maintain government’s agenda, and to top it all, largest collection of latter-day Davy Crockett-style social conservatives who dream of a return to the 19th C rather than even attempting to plan and recalibrate for the 21st C. Rather than leading by example, as behoves the world’s leading power, the US of A more or less does the opposite. It shows us all daily how NOT to be behaving or thinking. Deeply ironic, and yet very American: it’s not anything new. American history is filled with louche, venal, dishonest and corrupt characters (as endless US presidents have noted) almost all of whom have been insular and nationalistic in outlook. Not even attempting to act as exemplars to the rest of the world. So much for the American revolution setting the pace let alone a good example for free men. Yet it doesn’t stop them being deeply ignorant of how the rest of the world works; bragging about their supposed greatness (I look in vain for the evidence, outside commerce); and ignoring all evidence of how their country is increasingly seized by vested interests, then raped and pillaged and hung out to dry. And all the while, the media, the public and body politic wander around as if in a daydream unable to see what’s happening under their noses. There must be a way of describing this … but it wouldn’t be using words like ‘success’ or ‘intelligent’ and certainly not ‘independence’.

Oh, yeah, most of them are put into office with $ in corporate funds.nThe issue still, besides ignoring and walking through these fools is to control corporate buy off of elections.nREALITY, we have very poor control of what is released on an unsuspecting public because money talks and the government “of the people, by the people and for the people” has been sold for top dollar to the corporations while we were too busy worrying about what the new color is for Spring.nSo when are we going to get off our lazy asses and reclaim what we lost?nnAnd MoveOn – when are we going to hold them accountable instead of collapsing at the cooing sound of the word “no” from a new president when asked to act on the behalf of the people? MoveOn? Any response? MoveOn?….(**crickets***)

Is there any way Maine can be made a part of Massachusetts again?

You better believe it. If that were the case he would be demanding that the government pay for all care with no questions asked and no co-pay. Government run health care would be great (but only for that one condition).
