Washington, D.C. – In response to the ProPublica exposé revealing Justice Clarence Thomas spent the last 20 years vacationing on luxury trips with a mega Republican donor and didn’t recuse himself from McDonnell v. United States (2016), MoveOn Executive Director Rahna Epting issued the following statement:

“Every day that Clarence Thomas remains on the Supreme Court is a day that the court loses even more credibility with the American public. This latest report shows Justice Thomas has no regard for the law or ethics. He is wholly unfit to serve on the Supreme Court. Now is not a time for politics as usual. Congressional Democrats should move to impeach Clarence Thomas without delay.”

MoveOn members are also engaging in a campaign to push for Justice Thomas’s impeachment.

West Palm Beach, FL – MoveOn Political Action launched a new billboard with the message “Trump Is Not Above the Law,” this afternoon to greet former President Trump and his acolytes after returning home from his arraignment. The billboard, located 1.9 miles away from Mar-a-Lago, directly on the route Trump will take home from the Palm Beach International Airport, is in plain view of aerial crews covering Trump’s return. The billboard will be up for the next month.

A large MoveOn billboard reads: "Trump is not above the law" against a blue sky with clouds and over the highway approaching Mar-a-Lago, Florida where many cars are seen lined up.

PALM BEACH, FLORIDA – APRIL 03: On the heels of Donald Trump’s indictment by a New York Grand Jury on criminal charges, MoveOn erected a pair of billboards on the highway approaches to Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s Florida residence on April 03, 2023 in Palm Beach, Florida. One billboard reads “Trump Is Not Above the Law.” Another quotes Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s private text message about Trump, made public in court filings, which quotes Carlson: “I hate [Trump] passionately.” The billboards were funded by donations from MoveOn members. (Photo by Jason Koerner/Getty Images for MoveOn Political Action)

“This billboard is a daily reminder to Trump and his allies that nobody is above the law, not even Donald Trump,” said MoveOn Executive Director Rahna Epting. “Last week’s indictment marks a turning point in the work to hold Trump accountable for flouting the law over and over again for his personal benefit. As 330,000+ MoveOn members have demanded in recent days, Trump must be prosecuted and held accountable for all the crimes he’s committed.”

“Wow. This is a historic piece of legislation. Lowering the cost of prescription drugs, expanding health care, making massive corporations pay more of their fair share, and the largest-ever investment in fighting the climate crisis. Any one of those alone would be a big deal. Taken together this is a once in a generation opportunity to significantly address so many of our urgent crises.  And the benefits will be felt by millions of Americans immediately, and hundreds of millions of Americans for years to come.

“After more than a year of drama around this legislation, the Senate and House should take this historic legislation up without delay and get it over the finish line.”

2021 was quite a year, and the work we did together is an inspiration—whether MoveOn members were working locally to stop a toxic pipeline project, holding corporations accountable for profiting off of right-wing conspiracy theories, or helping to keep people in their homes during the global pandemic, we have rallied together in moments of uncertainty and injustice. Here are a few of the inspiring moments from 2021, where MoveOn’s incredible members and progressive partners used the MoveOn petition’s tool to power their campaigns. There are many other ways MoveOn campaigns as well and many other critical ongoing fights we are a part of, but these achievements show how progressive change can start with signing or starting a petition!

rotating image of petitions and petition deliveries

• When the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) suspended Sha’Carri Richardson from running in the Tokyo Olympics due to an irrational, outdated, and arbitrarily enforced rule around marijuana in July, nearly 600,000 MoveOn members came together and signed the petition demanding that the USADA drop their penalty and let Sha’Carri run! MoveOn members later partnered with NORML Colorado, a leading advocate for changing our country’s marijuana laws, to organize a relay race to deliver the petition to the USADA.

The massive petition by MoveOn members was included in tons of articles by ESPN, on “The Today Show,” NBC’s “Nightly News,” and NPR, and in Black Enterprise and other magazines, and the petition and hashtag #LetShaCarriRun took over Twitter, with celebrities and influencers like Debra Messing, David Zirin, and Adina Porter showing their support in droves!

The fight against the criminalization of Black, brown, and Indigenous people and communities for marijuana use continues. And just weeks after Sha’Carri’s story was all over the news, U.S. Senators Cory Booker, Charles Schumer, and Ron Wyden introduced legislation that is a historic first step in undoing the harms caused by unjust drug policies.

• In January, MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell was photographed with written notes to give Trump, instructing him to overturn the 2020 election by way of martial law. So MoveOn member Dennis C. started a petition demanding that Costco, MyPillow’s second-largest retailer, drop MyPillow. After nearly 300,000 MoveOn members signed Dennis’s petition, the campaign won, and Costco removed MyPillow from all of its stores! This is what’s possible when we take action together.

• After the deadly, white supremacist-led January 6 insurrection, many corporations like General Motors (GM) pledged to either stop or pause political donations to Republicans who fueled the insurrection. GM broke that promise and donated PAC money to seditious Republicans. We cannot normalize their behavior or let corporations off the hook for supporting the elected officials who attack our democracy. So, in July, nearly 20,000 MoveOn members signed the petition to tell GM’s PAC: Keep your word and stop funding insurrection.

• In May, when the Israeli government was forcibly evicting, killing, and displacing Palestinians from their homes and violence was spreading, over 73,000 MoveOn members signed the petition asking President Biden to take action to secure an immediate ceasefire and to achieve a just solution grounded in human dignity.

• In August, when Afghans were suffering from decades of a forever war, MoveOn partner Afghans for a Better Tomorrow started a petition pushing the Biden administration and Congress to ensure the safety of the most vulnerable in Afghanistan by increasing refugee caps, keeping the airport in Kabul open, expanding visas, and providing humanitarian aid to support Afghans. Over 128,000 MoveOn members signed the petition, to fight for a future for Afghans without war, violence, or a humanitarian crisis. Since then, Afghans for a Better Tomorrow has become a leader in the progressive movement and is continuing its advocacy for the dignity and protection of Afghan people.

• In September, the Supreme Court refused to stop the heinous Texas abortion ban from going into effect. UltraViolet started a petition demanding that the U.S. Senate pass the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA) to protect access to abortion for all American. Over 227,000 MoveOn members signed the petition and we supported UltraViolet in delivering these signatures to Senator Richard Blumenthal and Representative Judy Chu, two of the bill’s co-sponsors.

• In June, Honor the Earth, an Indigenous-led group, started a petition asking President Biden to stop the construction of Enbridge Inc.’s Line 3 toxic tar sands pipeline project that threatens Indigenous treaty rights, clean water, and the climate. Over 84,000 MoveOn members signed the petition. And in October, the petition was delivered by Indigenous climate leaders and allies who hosted a #PeoplevsFossilFuels week of action in D.C. to demand a fossil free future and real climate solutions that are rooted in justice.

• At the end of July, millions of Americans were facing eviction despite the global pandemic. So over 62,000 MoveOn members signed the petition to echo Congresswoman Cori Bush’s call asking the Biden administration to extend the eviction moratorium so people wouldn’t lose their homes.

Congresswoman Cori Bush took bold action and spent days and nights on the steps of the Capitol to demand that millions of Americans not get evicted. Representative Bush was joined by Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Senator Elizabeth Warren, Representative Ayanna Pressley, and MoveOn Executive Director Rahna Epting!

• In October, human rights lawyer Steven Donziger was jailed for exposing that Chevron intentionally dumped 16 billion gallons of toxic oil onto Indigenous land in Ecuador, which poisoned Indigenous and poor communities in Ecuador’s Amazon region. Over 43,000 MoveOn members signed the petition to demand that the U.S Department of Justice review Steven Donziger’s case.

• Later that month, when news broke that Apple was giving Trump and his new social media app a platform even after Trump incited the deadly white supremacist-led January 6 insurrection, MoveOn member Matthew Witten started a petition demanding that Apple drop Trump’s new social media app. Over 204,000 MoveOn members signed the petition!

• In January, MoveOn partner Cornell Center on the Death Penalty Worldwide started a petition demanding that the Department of Justice save the life of Lisa Montgomery, a victim of abuse, who was going to be wrongly executed by the federal government. Over 312,000 MoveOn members signed this petition as we tried to accomplish the nearly impossible, a stay of execution in the face of insurmountable odds. MoveOn members showed up in support of Lisa and her sister.

• In July, Ben & Jerry (yes, THAT Ben & Jerry from the ice cream) started a petition asking Congress to tax the ultra-wealthy and corporations so they can pay their fair share in taxes, instead of expending unnecessary resources to send themselves into space. Nearly 125,000 MoveOn members signed the petition. This was an essential tenet of our advocacy around Build Back Better, given that the gap between the ultra-wealthy and working people continues to widen.

• And in August, after Republicans in states across the country passed hundreds of voter suppression laws, Common Cause started a petition to push President Biden to do everything he can, including calling for an end to the racist Jim Crow filibuster, to protect our sacred voting rights. Over 40,000 MoveOn members joined Congresswoman Nikema Williams, who serves in the same district that was long represented by civil rights champion John Lewis, and signed the petition. Then, MoveOn members partnered with Black Voters Matter, Common Cause, Stand Up America, Fix Our Senate, People for the American Way, the family of the late Congressman John Lewis, and other progressive allies to deliver over 400,000 petition signatures to the White House.

MoveOn’s free petition platform is a powerful place where MoveOn members and progressive partners are able to run impactful campaigns on issues impacting their communities. From rising up to advance climate justice, racial justice, voting rights, or economic justice, it was so inspiring to see MoveOn members take action all year long.

Throughout the entire year, MoveOn members signed petitions, started petitions, called their members of Congress, hosted and attended rallies and events, delivered petitions, and so much more. And all of these campaigns started with a petition on MoveOn’s free petition platform!

In 2022 and beyond, MoveOn members and progressive partners will continue using the petition platform as a tool to organize and build power for our communities. And you can use the platform to start a petition on an issue you care about too!

In solidarity,

–Jensine, Isbah, and the MoveOn Petition Platform Team

The Fight Continues for the Freedom to Vote

We need more elected leaders who fight for our power instead of their own.

Statement from MoveOn Executive Director Rahna Epting:

“President Biden forcefully and accurately laid out the choice between addressing the grave and growing threat to our democracy or protecting the arcane Senate filibuster rule. Tragically, every Republican senator refused to heed the call of history and sided with the segregationist practice of keeping people out of our democracy.

“Despite the actions of Trump and Senate Republicans, the right to vote still could have been protected if the Democratic caucus had stood united with the vast majority of Americans who support the freedom to vote. Instead, Senators Manchin and Sinema chose the filibuster over their own constituents’ right to vote.

“Our fight to protect our vote and our democracy is not over. Today’s vote on the filibuster would never have happened without sustained pressure from the many generations of civil rights leaders and countless groups and activists, as well as the leadership of progressives in Congress. We the people are powerful, and together we will march forward. We will not let Republicans’ attempts to rule through exclusion, cynicism, and chaos prevail, because the insurrection on January 6 showed us what that kind of America would look like.

“Millions of MoveOn members will take this fight to the ballot box in 2022 and 2024 to elect more leaders who fight for our power instead of their own. We will call on Congress to do what is morally right and pass the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act. We will continue to push state legislatures and fight right-wing obstructionists every step of the way when they try to silence Black, brown, Indigenous, rural, and low-income Americans and those with disabilities.

“From local offices to Congress, we must elect people who reflect our shared values and all communities in our country. Only when all of us—no matter our color, party, or ZIP code—have the ability to participate in our democratic process can we make real progress toward an economy and democracy that work for everyone.”

“Today, the President gave a forceful and important speech about the grave and growing threat to our democracy and the right to vote.

“Now it is time for action. And this is not and cannot be a time for politics as usual.

“It has been more than 100 days since the House passed the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. And every day Republicans are allowed to filibuster this bill is another day the forces seeking to undermine our democracy get stronger.

“It is far past time for the Senate to act.

“What happens over the next few weeks in Congress will determine whether we continue to have free and fair elections in this nation or whether we are going to continue to allow one party to destroy the great American experiment systematically.

“We can either have a democracy or we can have the filibuster. But Republicans have proven we can’t have both.

“It is time to call the vote. And for Congress to protect the right to vote in this country.

“Our millions of members, in every state and every congressional district, are watching and will remember who defended the right to vote and who chose to play politics in this moment of great threat.”

Historic Investments in Jobs, Care, Climate, and Immigration are Huge Wins for America

Following House passage of the Build Back Better Act, Rahna Epting issued the following statement:

“This is a historic day, and this is historic legislation.

“Eighty-one million people showed up last November to usher Democrats into the White House and both majorities in Congress. Today, President Biden and House Democrats delivered a huge win with bold investments in jobs, care, climate, and protections for immigrants, as well as ensuring the 1% start paying more of their fair share in taxes.

“The Build Back Better Act provides historic funding for the care our children and elders need; the biggest investments in history to tackle the climate crisis and advance a more equitable, clean-energy economy; along with critical reductions to the costs of health care, prescription drugs, and child care. It also reflects the administration’s continued commitment to advance good-paying jobs and important immigration reform. It will make life better for nearly all Americans, while also finally making the rich pay more of their fair share in taxes.

“Today’s House passage is a giant leap forward on the path to an equitable recovery for all. Now, the Senate needs to do their part and swiftly pass the Build Back Better Act upon their return. The American people cannot afford to wait any longer.”

Following House passage of the bipartisan infrastructure bill and the vote to advance the Build Back Better Act, MoveOn Executive Director Rahna Epting issued the following statement:

“MoveOn thanks all of the U.S. House progressives and their deep commitment to advancing the entirety of President Biden’s agenda. Together we’ve made incredible progress and there is much more work ahead to finish the job of delivering an equitable recovery that 81 million Americans voted for last November.

“The infrastructure bill is an important piece of legislation that will help rebuild roads, bridges and tunnels across the country. It will help create jobs and grow the economy. It is only half of what is needed but once paired with the Build Back Better Act, we can accomplish the truly historic and transformational change that people voted for in overwhelming numbers last year.

“We appreciate the leadership the Congressional Progressive Caucus, House Leadership, and  President Biden showed in passing the rule for Build Back Better last night and securing a written promise it will be passed no later than the week of November 15th. We expect the signatories of that letter to keep their word and we intend to hold them to it.

“We commend progressive members of the House who have been working tirelessly to hold the line for what all people in this country need to thrive and also appreciate those who voted their conscience last night in support of seeing ALL of President Biden’s agenda passed together.

“The American people cannot afford to wait any longer for bold investments in jobs, care, climate, and immigration. The clock is ticking and their patience is waning. Congress needs to get the rest of Build Back Better done immediately. It is time to deliver.”

“Conservative Democrats have not been negotiating in good faith. Every time we get close to taking President Biden’s agenda over the finish line, they move the goalposts.

“We were ready and excited to celebrate the House passage of both the Build Back Better Act and the Bipartisan Infrastructure plan today. We believe in all of President Biden’s agenda and want to see it all signed into law. Today’s antics by conservative Democrats have not made that possible.

“Conservative Democrats have once again shown that if the Bipartisan Infrastructure bill passes without passing the Build Back Better Act it is likely that the vast majority of President Biden’s agenda could be left behind. That is totally unacceptable.

“We are with progressives who are demanding that we see all of President Biden’s agenda passed together.”

Statement by Rahna Epting, Executive Director of MoveOn on the GOP Filibuster of the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act:

“We can either have a democracy or we can have the filibuster. But Republicans prove we can’t have both.”

“Another day, another Republican filibuster of critical voting rights legislation. The Republican plan is clear — they want to systematically take a wrecking ball to the cornerstone of our democracy, the freedom to vote, in a naked power grab.

“While their plan is clear as day and they successfully make progress on it day by day, what is not clear at all is what is the Democratic plan to stop it.

“For months, Joe Manchin held up the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act  to chase Republican votes to end their filibuster. That plan failed. Miserably.

“Republicans have opened a multi-front war on our democracy –from attacking the right to vote, to lying daily about the last election, to fake audits in states, to refusing to allow a non-partisan investigation into the greatest attack on our homeland since 9/11.

“Given this five alarm fire, it is far past time for Democrats in Congress to stop pretending Republicans are a governing party. And it is far past time for Democrats in Congress to stop pretending Republicans care about our democracy or the right to vote.

“An arcane Senate rule is not more important than our fundamental right to vote. We can either have a democracy or we can have the filibuster. But Republicans prove we can’t have both.

“The choice is entirely up to Democrats. But every day they allow Republicans to filibuster this bill is another day our democracy and our freedom to vote is under attack.”

In response to reports of an initial framework on Build Back Better being announced MoveOn Executive Director Rahna Epting issued the following statement:

Framework makes historic investments, but more work ahead to seal the deal

“Voters elected Democrats to the White House and majorities in Congress on the power of President Biden’s vision of the Build Back Better Agenda. All of its provisions—jobs, care, climate, and immigration—are popular because they are essential to what our country needs to thrive. Taken together–the American Rescue Plan, the Bipartisan Infrastructure bill, and this Build Back Better framework–would be historic investments in our communities, our climate, and our economy. To ensure Congress delivers on this landmark progress, we support progressives calling for assurances that everything in this promising framework ends up in the final legislative package.

“The framework includes so much of what MoveOn members and progressives have supported for decades. It includes historic investments for the care our children and elders need, the biggest investments in history to tackle the climate crisis and advance a more equitable, clean energy economy, along with critical reductions to healthcare and childcare costs. It also reflects the administration’s continued commitment to advance important immigration reform. It will make life better for nearly all Americans, while also finally making the rich pay more of their fair share.

“There is obviously more work to be done to address the economic and climate crises impacting our communities, and many desperately needed provisions are not included. Today’s news is a good start on the path to an equitable recovery for all – but make no mistake – there should be no rush to vote on the Bipartisan Infrastructure plan until assurances are firmed up in Congress committing to this Build Back Better framework.”

“Our democracy is under daily attack from forces seeking to destroy it for their own political gain. It started long before January 6th and it has continued more than ten months after the violent attack on the Capitol.

“This is a five alarm fire for our democracy. From attacking the right to vote, to lying daily about the last election, to fake audits in states, to refusing to allow a non-partisan investigation into the greatest attack on our homeland since 9/11 Republicans have opened a multi-front war on our democracy.

Republicans are blocking historic voting rights legislation and we know exactly why. The Freedom to Vote Act is vital for safeguarding the freedom to vote for every American and fighting back against their continued assaults on our democracy. Our government cannot be representative of the people if the people have no voice in electing our own leaders.

“Throughout our nation’s history the filibuster has been used as a racist and harmful tool to halt progress. Today’s filibuster is just the latest example of Republicans silencing the voices of Black, Brown, Indigenous, poor and working Americans.

“An arcane Senate rule is not more important than our fundamental right to vote. We can either have a democracy or we can have the filibuster. It is increasingly clear for all to see we can not have both.

“The choice is entirely up to Democrats. But every day they allow Republicans to filibuster this bill is another day our democracy and our right to vote is under attack.”

Statement by Rahna Epting, Executive Director of MoveOn, on Reconciliation Negotiations in Congress:

“It is beyond absurd that we are talking about choosing between child care and elder care or tax cuts to families and free community college. We have more than enough resources to do all of it. We’re the richest country on earth. These false choices are ridiculous and harmful. We are still in the middle of a historic pandemic and the economy hasn’t come close to recovering yet. This is not a time for politics as usual or tired and outdated austerity policies. The ultra rich and huge corporations have made massive profits in the middle of this pandemic. Simply making them pay their fair share will be more than enough money to cover these essential policies. This is a once in a generation moment for Congress to act and to act boldly to meet this moment.”

89% of MoveOn member respondents – many who volunteered for her campaign – less likely to support her again in the next election

Washington, D.C. – A survey of MoveOn’s over 300,000 members in Arizona – many of whom volunteered for or otherwise supported Senator Sinema’s last campaign – showed that 89% of them would be less likely to support her in the next election if she continues to obstruct President Biden’s Build Back Better plan.

“Every part of President Biden’s Build Back Better Agenda – jobs, care, climate, and citizenship – is popular in Arizona, as is paying for it by having the ultra wealthy and big corporations pay their fair share in taxes,” said Rahna Epting, Executive Director of MoveOn. “But if Senator Sinema keeps obstructing Biden on behalf of the wealthy and corporate lobbyists, she is going to lose the support of Arizonans who need the help – and who are the ones who put her in office.

Responses from MoveOn members in Arizona:

“Senator Sinema is not representing her constituents. Rather, this Senator is beholden to corporate money and her own self-interests.”

“I worked for her election as a volunteer through the [REDACTED]. I’m mortified to say that and realize what a mistake I made. She is completely uninterested in working for her constituents. She has people she’s doing favors for and is working to achieve her own personal success and money.”

“I worked very hard to help get Senator Sinema elected, I felt she was the only candidate that represented the actual constituency she would be representing. I felt she would listen to the residents of Arizona and bring OUR voices and concerns to Washington. She has turned out to be only representing herself.  If she continues with this self serving showboating, I will do everything in my power to make sure she is never reelected again. President Biden’s agenda is one that I and most of the Arizonans I know support.”

“Senator Sinema is doing far less to support average Americans than she is doing to support wealthy and corporate America.”

“If she won’t support the Biden agenda, I will not support her. I already regret voting for her as an Independent.  Her actions in the Senate are not going to be forgotten any time soon.”

“She has been a huge disappointment so far. She needs to worry more about her constituents and less about the big money influencers. I voted and donated to Senator Sinema’s campaign last time but I will not support her unless she starts trying to support President Biden’s agenda which is very popular with voters and especially Democrats.”

As a grassroots, member-driven organization, MoveOn surveys its membership in states to decide which candidates should be supported. In this survey, 89% of members said they would be less likely to support Senator Sinema if she continued to obstruct President Biden, 4% said it would make no difference, and 8% said they would be more likely to support her.

Statement by Rahna Epting, Executive Director of MoveOn, on Representatives Rice, Schrader and Peters gutting prescription drug reform measures in reconciliation:

“Nearly two million dollars in campaign contributions. That is what it took for Big Pharma to buy the votes of three conservative Democrats to defeat the most meaningful prescription drug reform measure in generations. These representatives had to choose between standing up for their constituents who need life saving medication or their Big Pharma campaign donors. When it came down to a vote, they chose Big Pharma and their cold hard cash. It was a shameful and disgusting vote and one their constituents and millions of MoveOn members will remember for a long time.

“The prescription drug reform in this bill is widely supported by the public and the vast majority of Democrats in the House and Senate. Today’s vote will not be the final say on these reforms. But it makes clear for the entire nation who is on the side of their constituents and who is on the side of Big Pharma.”

Democrats who are looking to gut much needed prescription drug pricing reform from the reconciliation package — which would lower the price of life saving prescription drugs for tens of millions of Americans — need to take a long look in the mirror and assess whether they are representing their constituents or doing the backroom bidding of Big Pharma and their army of lobbyists. Because all available evidence at the moment points to Representatives Rice, Schrader, and Peters being more interested in lining the pockets of rich pharmaceutical CEOs rather than delivering relief from the price gouging costs of prescription drugs for their constituents. Congress has a once-in-a-generation chance to enact big and bold reforms. Democrats looking to water them down on behalf of special interests are actively harming the people they’re supposed to serve.

“We’re in a 5 alarm voting rights fire and the GOP blocked a vote yet again prevent essential protections for Americans’ freedom to vote.

“We know McConnell is not going to change his behavior so it’s up to President Biden and Senate Democrats to stop doing business as usual or they will simply keep allowing Republican Senators to block popular and bipartisan proposals – including the For the People Act.

“As Republicans in state after state, across the country, continue to rig the rules in their favor, Democrats need to use every power they have to fight back, including eliminating the filibuster, to overcome this obstruction and deliver for the American people.

“MoveOn members are not backing down and Biden and Senate Democrats need to tell us what their plan to pass S1 is. Before it’s too late.”

“Now that the Senate has passed an infrastructure bill and initial $3.5 billion budget reconciliation instructions, Democrats must finish the job of this once-in-a-generation opportunity to pass significant legislation that truly meets the size and scale of what is needed.

“House Democrats should follow Speaker Pelosi’s plan to move both pieces of legislation together because both are essential. The House should also not further reduce the $3.5 billion reconciliation number – which is already a compromise – because we must fully meet the moment to fully fund the investments we need in infrastructure, care, climate, and citizenship.

“It is time for Democrats to be bold and not be constrained by politics as usual. The American people can not afford for Democrats to not fully seize this opportunity.”

Statement of Rahna Epting, Executive Director of MoveOn, on Republicans filibustering the bipartisan infrastructure bill:

“Enough. We can’t wait on Republicans any longer. They had a chance to come to the table, negotiate in good faith and deliver for the American people. They failed to do so.

“President Biden has spent months bending over backwards to compromise with Republican lawmakers, but today’s vote shows that not a single Republican is genuinely interested in making a deal. The Republican party is more interested in spouting conspiracy theories and lies about the last election than actually governing. They have shown they are not a serious governing party and they should no longer be treated as one. It is time to move on without them.

“Democrats should immediately move to reconciliation and pass a bill that meets the size and scope of the multiple crises this nation faces. We can not afford to wait one more minute for more political games from Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans. Their goal is only obstruction. The time for action is now.”
