Unfortunately, we thrive on asserting difference — the nation-state is in a way just an extension of the tribe which is an extension of the family. How to get beyond the assertion of difference as primary, and assert empathy and cooperation as primary, has yet to be seen.

Why do conservatives always try to make these archaic connections to socialism and communism, when nothing of the sort exists in this country nor will it ever? Amazing.

The non-govenrnmental response to Haiti was voluntary, we will not swallow your New World Order plans. nnCommunism, socialism and progressivism share three fatal flaws – 1.They assume that all people perform on the same level and contribute equally 2. That the human nature is anything other than at its best when it is absolutely competitive 3.People are willing to be generous involuntarily. nnIn the end, socialists are mostly well meaning – but they attempt to control, change or circumvent the nature of man; that is impossible. We must accept what we are – Besides, communist governments have always been rife with corruption – the inclination to want more is human nature and what allows the species to survive and improve. If idiots and people that have failed habits are paid to propagate it defies the laws of nature and societal decay and eventual failure is destiny. Just look at the condition of those that receive prolonged welfare, failures.

Would the brain show empathy with with the brain of the taker or takee? Would the MRI show a difference in the above situation due to age, social status, political ideology? Interesting research for sure but it seems to be just starting.
