Governor Scott Walker promised to balance the budget, but he didn’t reveal his intention to strip away collective bargaining rights from public sector workers. He asked for concessions from the unions, and when he got them, he went ahead anyway with his anti-union plans. nnWalker also gave tax breaks to corporations for about the same amount as he was asking the unions to contribute (albeit for the next year’s budget), in effect taking from the middle class and giving it to the powerful moneyed class which financed his election.nnWalker is pushing for $1 billion in tax cuts to education. His agenda is clearly not, as he had stated he wanted, school reform.nnAddicted to the union gravy train? As a result of unions, we have child labor laws, minimum wage standards, a 5-day work week, health insurance (sometimes), and workplace safety standards.nnConservatives have attacked EPA, IRS, SEC, HUD, the Department of Education, the Labor department, as well as other agencies. They are trying to take us back to 1895. Conservatives are using the Tea Party’s desire for government fiscal responsibility to slash “social” spending. Yet at the same time they are slashing taxes on corporations and the wealthy, thus reducing government revenues. If deficits really mattered to conservatives, their actions would be radically different.nnConservative attacks on Social Security continue, with lies about how it is financed and claims that it is insolvent. Social Security is fully funded for another 26 years and four-fifths funded (fully with caps raised) to 2084. It is not an entitlement program; it is funded by payroll taxes. The exception to that is last December’s misguided “tax holiday” which lowered payroll taxes on workers from about 6.2% to 4.2%, with general revenues making up the difference.nnA recall is being mounted because of Walker’s lies and because of his attacks on the middle class. If voters really do approve his agenda, Republicans have nothing to fear.

Please stop being stupid and pretending the people you disagree with are stupid. Did you see me saying, “It’s bad for corporations to make money.”?nNo you didn’t.nYet you act as if you did.nIf all you want to say is that corporations should be allowed to make money, you’re wasting your time, because almost no one disagrees with that.nI don’t mind corporations making money. I do mind corporations screwing me over.nI don’t mind paying my share of taxes for good government. I do mind paying more than my share of taxes for government that helps corporations screw me over.nIf you’re going to argue against me, at least disagree with something I’ve said. Don’t pick one of your senseless generalizations about people who you don’t agree with, some simple-minded straw man viewpoint, and criticize that.n

You know what is pathetic? nnClinton supported the free trade with china. What happened? Americans now buy nearly everything from China. Millions of jobs lost, shrinking middle class, and the need for lower wages in order to compete with countries that pay their people nothing.nnClinton’s equal housing laws caused the housing market collapse by forcing banks to make bad loans to the poor when they didnt want to. He deregulated hedging so that investors would be more willing to risk making these loans.nnClinton purged the massive surplus in the SS funds to pay down the debt, and people seem to think this was a “good budget”.nnThen after the meltdown of the middle class and our banks and economy, the Media Sheep turn around and blame the republicans. (soley!) for this mess. They get on their soap boxes and blame the “rich’, when the “rich” have been fked over for decades. You’re always after the “rich” blaming the “rich” when the truth is, if the democrats knew when to butt in…and butt out, our flourishing middle class would probably still be flourishing.

Name ONE good reason people should have collective bargaining rights against the government. Just one.

I knew a guy who flew commercial planes for a living. He worked as a waiter on the weekends for “$2.00” an hour. He took home 2 grand in tips though. If they do not make up the amount for “minimum wage” in tips, the company has to pay them the rest. But if a waiter/waitress goes for a long period without making any tips, they usually get canned. Its not hard to make tips. You could be average and make good money.

You do not need Unions for this. There are these things called “labor laws”. Also, if a company now a days needs Unions to force benefits, then they aren’t very competitive now are they? How do the non union states survive…I wonder….You people act like you wake up in a new world every day.

learn how money works and get off your liberal rags. The profits corporations make go to the shareholders who DO pay taxes on those earnings. The liberal rags who count on the ignorance of their sheep keep harping on the “this corporation paid nearly no taxes”, when that is nothing but a red herring. Do you want ALL money taxed twice? Pay double the taxes on what you make now. Then talk.

Democracy does not end at the voting booth. Representatives of both parties should always seek out and pursue the interests of the majority of the population (which is labor, rather than wealthy owners). If they fail to do this, it is the patriotic duty of the people to replace them with new representatives who will better meet their needs.nnFurthermore, if it becomes clear that the entire economic or political system does not seem to meet the people’s general welfare, then it too should be scrutinized, adjusted, or replaced.

I am not sure what Moore’s lawsuit has to do with any of his social critiques (I do not know the specifics of his contract, and I doubt you do either). Are you blaming him for living in a capitalist society, and consequently bound by its rules? Similarly, his intentions for money that he may or may not be owed has nothing to do with the content of his arguments. Finally, who cares whether Moore appears to be an “average guy”? We should examine Moore’s specific arguments; examining his personal life history, his presumed intentions, or his physical characteristics does not qualify as a meaningful assessment of his position.

The truth is that he’s a money hungry capitalist himself. He recently went and sued Harvey Weinstein for allegedly cheating him during the filming of Fahrenheit 911. Maybe he means to give all that money to the teachers union in Wisconsin,so they can give that money to Democratic representatives, who in turn will give sweetheart contracts back to the unions.

As I’ve said before, Brilliant, I don’t consider many of these issues to be just a discussion. To me and maybe to others here, it is about what is moral. To me your political positions are evil and hateful. I have many conservatives in my extended family and to a person, they are all horrible people. So yes, it’s beyond having a civil discussion. It’s about surviving the onslaught of republican “values”. I will never allow you to destroy me or my family…ever!
