VICTORY: Kentucky and Kansas Pass New Science Education Standards

In Kentucky and Kansas, the state Boards of Education were considering the Next Generation Science Standards, which would include facts about climate change in the curriculum. But in both states, climate change deniers fought against the new research-based curriculum standards. That’s why parents Sheila Anderson and Dennis Newell created MoveOn Petitions along with the organization Climate Parents, asking the Board of Education in each state to approve the new standards. Each petition gathered thousands of signatures. Despite vocal opposition from climate change-denying legislators, both the Kansas and Kentucky Boards of Education voted to approve the new standards.
