MoveOn Executive Director Rahna Epting Responds to the Supreme Court’s California v. Texas Decision

Washington, D.C. — Today, Rahna Epting, the executive director of MoveOn, released the following statement regarding the United States Supreme Court California v. Texas ruling that upholds the Affordable Care Act:

“The Affordable Care Act remains a lifeline for millions of Americans more than a decade after being signed into law. Today’s Supreme Court decision is a victory for everyone who relies on this legislation for lifesaving care. Republicans keep trying to destroy this essential program and today’s decision is yet another loss in their destructive efforts.

“Our work to ensure every American has access to quality and affordable healthcare is far from done. We call on Congress to build on the success of the Affordable Care Act by including drug pricing negotiations to the American Families Plan to counter price-gouging by Big Pharma and use the savings to expand Medicare, including lowering the eligibility age. We must take bold steps to make universal healthcare a reality. We will continue this fight until Congress finally prioritizes the health, safety, and wellbeing of all communities.”
